In the Midrash Tanchuma, Behaalotcha 5, it is written, "Those seven are the eyes of the Hashem, roaming over the whole earth.” This phrase refers to the Menorah, whose seven lamps symbolize the seven planets that traverse the heavens. These lamps, dear to Hashem, remind us of His omnipresence. The Torah states, "Let the seven lamps give their light in front of the Menorah" (BaMidbar 8:2).
